Note: Leawo Software had decided to merge some of its products to help users to process media files more conveniently. And now Leawo Blu-ray to MKV Converter Mac and Leawo Blu-ray Ripper are merged into one program. They are now all inside Leawo’s Software suite called Prof.Media. Prof.Media consists of 8 different modules and one of them is Leawo Blu-ray Ripper for Mac.

Rip Blu-ray/DVD to MKV

Step 1Open Blu-ray to MKV Converter

Since Leawo Blu-ray to MKV Converter is merged with Blu-ray Ripper, you will have to access its feature through Prof.Media. Fire up Prof.Media on your Mac, find the Blu-ray Ripper shortcut key among the 8 tabs in Prof.Media’s main interface and click on it to launch Blu-ray Ripper.

Step 2Add source Blu-ray/DVD files

Enter the disc you want to rip into your disc drive and then click the Add Blu-ray/DVD button in the upper left area of Leawo Blu-ray Ripper’s interface. The following drop-down menu provides you with 3 options to import source Blu-ray/DVD files from different sources. Click Add from CD-ROM to import the Blu-ray/DVD files in the disc to the program. Click Add from Folder to import Blu-ray/DVD folder from your hard drive and click the Add iso file option to add a Blu-ray/DVD iso file to the program. You can also directly drag and drop the source Blu-ray/DVD files to the interface of the program to import them.

Step 3Select videos to convert to MKV

On the following interface, all video titles in the source Blu-ray/DVD files will be listed on the left column. On the left is the video player window for you to play and preview the videos on the list. There are 3 buttons on top of the video title list: Full Movie, Main Movie and Custom Mode. Here’s what they are for.
Full Movie: Has all video titles on the list selected to be ripped and contained in the lossless MKV video.
Main Movie: Includes the main movie only in the output MKV video.
Custom Mode: Allows you to select the video(s) you need manually from the list for ripping.

Select the right mode for the Blu-ray/DVD files and click OK to confirm your choice and import the chosen video titles to the video list for further settings.

Step 4Set lossless MKV as the default output format

Leawo Blu-ray Ripper supports a lot more output formats other than lossless MKV, so if you want to rip Blu-ray/DVD to lossless MKV, you will have to find the format from the format list and set it as default. There’s a Format button for you to access the Format list. It’s the button that locates in the left side of the green Convert button on top of the video list. Hit the Format button and a menu would display itself with 3 more buttons on it. Hit the Change button in the middle to open the Profile panel, a.k.a the Format list.

Go to Format>Lossless Video and you will see a Multi-track MKV tab, that’s the format we need. Hit the tab to set it as default and it will take you back to the video list at the same time.

Step 5Select needed audio tracks, subtitles, and angle

The lossless MKV file allows you to contain multiple audio tracks and subtitles in it. If you need, you can stuff all the audio tracks and subtitles in it. There’s an Audio drop-down menu and a Subtitles drop-down menu , and an Angle drop-down menu (only for multi-angle Blu-ray/DVD) on each video for you to select audio tracks, subtitles, and angle. Just click on the menu and select the audio tracks, subtitles, and angle you need from the drop-down menu by checking the boxes in front of them.
You can play the video from the video list by clicking the Play button in the bottom left corner of each video. Right click the video and you can select different audio tracks, subtitles, and angle for the playback. Click the camera icon to snap screenshot and click the Back button in the top left corner to quit playing and return to the video list.

Step 6Set output path for the output MKV video and start ripping

Hit the green Convert button and a sidebar would show itself from the right side of the video list. The default output path is on the sidebar under Save to. You can set the output path by clicking the “…” button next to it. And then you can start ripping Blu-ray/DVD to lossless MKV by clicking the Convert button at the bottom of the sidebar.

After the ripping process starts, you can pause the conversion of a specific file by clicking the Pause button on that file. Or you may cancel the whole ripping process by clicking the Cancel button.
